Projects

  • Story Maps

With ESRI story maps applications, I have created several visually engaging stories for the WHSRN Executive Office to communicate conservation threats and action with a general audience. Examples:

    Journey of a Semipalmated Sandpiper

Monomoy: A Story of Shifting Sands

    A Tale of Two Whimbrel

  • Data Visualization

Using ArcGIS Online and web-based ESRI applications, I have been able to illustrate conservation issues by mapping data and creating interactive tools for exploring the data. Examples:

Dig into Data: 10 Years of reTURN the Favor

Important Shorebird Sites of the Americas

  • Human Dimension Toolkit for Shorebird Conservation

This toolkit is a step-by-step guide for planning a community engagement program. Based on social marketing theory, case studies, and published research, the toolkit includes planning worksheets and template tools.

  • Infographics

While managing this volunteer-based stewardship program in New Jersey, I created infographics to share the annual data in a fun, creative format to engage existing volunteers and others interested in learning about the program.

  • Shorebird Curriculum

Working with colleagues at Manomet, I created a shorebird curriculum to serve students across the Americas. Materials include interactive webpages, individual downloadables, and activity book.

  • WHSRN Communications

I supervised the communication program for the WHSRN Executive Office including managing social media content (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), directing and producing content for monthly newsletter, redesigning WHSRN website in 2019, and directing and designing graphics and videos.

  • Trash Free Potomac Watershed Iniative

While working for the Alice Ferguson Foundation, I managed an integrated program of social marketing, policy, regulation, market-based, and enforcement to develop collective action for solutions to litter and waste in the DC Metro area.

  • Trash Free Maryland Alliance

I co-created the Trash Free Maryland Alliance from Alice Ferguson Foundation's Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative’s policy working group. Members of the Alliance worked to support plastic bag legislation and other plastic litter reduction policy in Maryland. The Trash Free Maryland Alliance eventually became a standalone entity, and the "Alliance" was dropped from the name.
